Skagen rosen

When the bud of a willow bush is changed into a rosetta, it is due to a gall-mosquito, which lays its eggs in the bud. A gall is created, where the leaves are crippled, taking the shape of a little rose. In spring and summer the rose is green, but in the autumn the rose is drying. The dried Skagen Rose is popular in decorations and as a souvenir. According to local custom the gild and silvered rose is used as a jewelry.
